BLM Antibody (C-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects BLM in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BLM, encoded by the BLM gene, plays a crucial role in maintaining genomic stability by unwinding DNA during replication and repair processes, which is vital for preventing mutations that can lead to cancer. BLM is primarily located in the nucleus, where BLM interacts with both single- and double-stranded DNA, and BLM′s ATPase activity is essential for helicase function. Notably, BLM′s ability to unwind G-quadruplex (G4) DNA structures is significant, as these structures can impede replication and transcription if not properly resolved. Dysfunction of BLM, often due to mutations in the BLM gene, leads to an increased frequency of sister chromatid exchanges, a hallmark of Bloom′s syndrome, which is associated with a higher risk of developing various cancers. BLM Antibody (C-1) enables researchers to gain insights into the mechanisms of DNA repair and the implications of BLM dysfunction in cancer biology.
