Atm Antibody (G-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody, specifically designed to detect the Ataxia Telangiectasia Mutated (ATM) protein, also known as ATM serine/threonine kinase, of human origin. ATM (G-12) antibody targets the epitope spanning amino acids 2581-2860 of the human ATM protein, making ATM monoclonal antibody (G-12) suitable for a wide range of applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The ATM protein is a pivotal member of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-related kinase (PIKK) family, distinguished by its extensive structure that includes multiple HEAT repeats and a central kinase domain, which are essential for its role in cellular signaling. The intricate architecture of ATM facilitates interaction with key proteins such as p53, BRCA1, and NBS1, enabling coordination of cellular response to DNA double-strand breaks, regulation of cell cycle checkpoints, and promotion of DNA repair processes. These interactions are crucial for maintaining genomic stability and preventing the accumulation of genetic mutations. Understanding the structure and interaction network of ATM is vital, as this knowledge underpins ATM function in DNA damage response pathways and involvement in apoptosis. Mutations in the ATM gene lead to the autosomal recessive disorder ataxia telangiectasia, characterized by neurodegeneration, immune deficiencies, and an increased risk of cancer, highlighting ATM′s essential role in normal cellular function and disease. Anti-ATM antibody (G-12) is an invaluable tool for researchers investigating the molecular mechanisms of ATM, allowing for detailed studies of expression, localization, and interactions within various cellular contexts.

Can Atm (G-12): sc-377293 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, Atm (G-12): sc-377293 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
