PAcP Antibody (LT-3D1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects prostatic acid phosphatase (PAcP) in human samples through applications such as flow cytometry (FCM) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PAcP plays a crucial role as a neutral protein-tyrosine phosphatase, primarily involved in regulating prostate cell growth, which is vital for maintaining normal prostate function and preventing pathological conditions. This enzyme catalyzes the conversion of orthophosphoric monoester to alcohol and orthophosphate, a process that is essential for various cellular signaling pathways. Notably, PAcP is synthesized under androgen regulation, and stimulated secretion serves as a hallmark of androgen action on human prostate epithelial cells, making PAcP a valuable biomarker for assessing prostatic tissue atrophy. Furthermore, cellular PAcP has been shown to down-regulate prostate cancer cell growth, partially through the dephosphorylation of c-ErbB-2/neu, indicating that decreased expression of PAcP in cancer cells may contribute to prostate cancer progression. PAcP is encoded by the human ACPP gene, located on chromosome 3q21-q23, highlighting PAcP′s significance in both normal physiology and disease states.
