PAcP Antibody (C-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects prostatic acid phosphatase (PAcP) in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PAcP functions as a neutral protein-tyrosine phosphatase, primarily regulating prostate cell growth by catalyzing the conversion of orthophosphoric monoester to alcohol and orthophosphate. Androgen regulation of PAcP enzymatic activity leads to stimulated secretion, serving as a hallmark of androgen action on human prostate epithelial cells. PAcP down-regulates prostate cancer cell growth, partly by dephosphorylating c-ErbB-2/neu, making PAcP a potential biomarker for prostate cancer progression, as decreased cellular PAcP expression in cancer cells may contribute to tumor development. PAcP is encoded by the human ACPP gene, located on chromosome 3q21-q23, making PAcP a valuable target for research into prostate health and disease.
