IFN-α1/2/13 Antibody (ST29) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the IFN-alpha 1/2/13 protein of human origin by functional assay. Anti-IFN-alpha 1/2/13 antibody (ST29) is available as the non-conjugated format. Type I interferons, including IFN-α1, IFN-α2, and IFN-α13, play a crucial role in immune response, particularly in defense against viral infections. These cytokines are produced by various cells in response to viral pathogens and are essential for activating immune cells, enhancing antiviral state of neighboring cells, and modulating adaptive immune response. IFN-α1/2/13 induces expression of numerous genes involved in antiviral defense, such as those coding for proteins that inhibit viral replication, underscoring its importance in both innate and adaptive immunity. Genes encoding type I interferons are clustered on human chromosome 9, facilitating coordinated regulation and expression in response to infections. Type I interferon receptor (IFN-αR) interacts with these cytokines, highlighting intricate signaling pathways that govern immune responses.
