SEE ALSO...

ACBP Antibody (C-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ACBP of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-ACBP antibody (C-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Acyl-CoA binding protein (ACBP) plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by binding long chain acyl-CoA esters (LCAs) with high affinity, thereby regulating their availability and influencing various intracellular functions. ACBP is predominantly located in the cytoplasm, where ACBP facilitates the transport and storage of acyl-CoA, which is essential for fatty acid metabolism and energy production. ACBP is highly conserved across multiple species, including humans, rats, frogs, insects, plants, and yeast, highlighting ACBP′s fundamental biological importance. The gene encoding human ACBP, DBI, is located on chromosome 2 and is highly expressed in tissues such as the liver, soleus muscle, and heart, particularly in cells engaged in lipogenesis and de novo fatty acid synthesis. Notably, ACBP expression is significantly induced during adipocyte differentiation, and ACBP is a target gene for proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) γ, being directly activated by PPARγ/RXRα and PPARα/RXRα, but not by PPARδ/RXRα. Beyond ACBP′s role in acyl-CoA binding and transport, ACBP is also implicated in the binding of γ-aminobutyric acid type A receptors, steroidogenesis, and the release of peptide hormones, making ACBP a vital component in various metabolic pathways.
