    SEE ALSO...

Muted Antibody (F-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Muted protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Muted antibody (F-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Muted protein plays a crucial role in the biogenesis of lysosome-related organelles complex-1 (BLOC-1), a multisubunit complex essential for the formation of specialized organelles within the endosomal-lysosomal system, such as melanosomes and platelet-dense granules. This complex is composed of several coiled-coil-forming proteins, including Snapin, Pallidin, Cappuccino, Muted, BLOS1, BLOS2, and BLOS3, which exhibit varied localization within the cell, being found in cytoplasmic, peripheral membrane-bound, or vesicular membrane-anchored forms. Muted (mu) mouse serves as a valuable model for studying Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome (HPS), a genetic disorder in humans characterized by hypopigmentation, bleeding disorders, and severe pulmonary complications leading to early mortality. Muted gene is expressed throughout the body, with particularly high levels in the brain, bone marrow, kidney, and liver, while lower expression is observed in skeletal muscle, highlighting its importance in various physiological processes.
