β-Adaptin Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects β-Adaptin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). β-Adaptin (A-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. β-Adaptin protein plays a crucial role in forming clathrin-coated pits and vesicles, which are essential for receptor-mediated endocytosis, a process vital for cellular uptake of nutrients and signaling molecules. β-Adaptin protein interacts with clathrin-associated protein complexes, facilitating vesicle transport from the trans-Golgi network via the adapter complex AP-1 and from the plasma membrane through the AP-2 complex. Adapter protein complexes consist of clathrin-binding adaptin proteins, including γ and β1 for AP-1 and α and β2 for AP-2, along with smaller subunits AP50 and AP17. Structural organization of alpha and beta adaptin chains, characterized by their two-domain architecture, allows for differential regulation of clathrin-mediated endocytosis in various tissues, with splice variants of α-Adaptin exhibiting variable expression levels and tissue distribution.
