SEE ALSO...

3β-HSD Antibody (37-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects 3β-HSD in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-3β-HSD antibody (37-2) is available in a non-conjugated form, specifically targeting 3β-HSD and its isoform 3β-HSD2. 3 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3β-HSD), also referred to as HSD3B1 or HSDB3, is a bifunctional enzyme essential for the synthesis of all classes of hormonal steroids, making 3β-HSD critical for various physiological processes, including reproduction and metabolism. 3β-HSD is localized to the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum and is predominantly expressed in tissues such as the skin and placenta. Type I 3β-HSD catalyzes the oxidative conversion of δ5-ene-3-beta-hydroxy steroids and various ketosteroids, which are vital steps in steroidogenesis. Defects in the gene encoding 3β-HSD can lead to serious health issues, including classic salt-wasting conditions, genital ambiguity, hypogonadism, insulin-resistant polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and an increased risk of prostate cancer. Congenital deficiency of 3β-HSD activity can result in a critical depletion of steroid formation, posing a life-threatening risk in young children.

Can sc-100466: 3β-HSD (37-2) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-100466: 3β-HSD (37-2) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
