SEE ALSO...

p-ACCα Antibody (F-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects p-ACCα protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). p-ACCα (F-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by catalyzing the conversion of acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA, which is the rate-limiting step in fatty acid synthesis. This process is vital for maintaining energy homeostasis and regulating fatty acid levels in cells. p-ACCα, specifically, is essential for the biogenesis of long-chain fatty acids, while ACCβ is involved in controlling mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation. p-ACCα activity is regulated through phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of specific serine residues, which toggle between active and inactive states, as well as through allosteric modulation by metabolites such as citrate and palmitoyl-CoA. ACCα is located on human chromosome 17 and is predominantly expressed in lipogenic tissues, highlighting significance in metabolic pathways. Understanding p-ACCα regulatory mechanisms is critical for elucidating roles in metabolic disorders and developing therapeutic strategies targeting lipid metabolism.

Using that antibody for denaturing western blot on brain homogenates from C57BL6 mice, we identified only one band at ~200kDa. Any idea what it could be?

What application is the blocking peptide sc-271965 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
