HPPD Antibody (B-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects HPPD protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). HPPD (B-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HPPD, also known as 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase, PPD, GLOD3, or HPD, is a crucial enzyme consisting of 393 amino acids that plays a significant role in amino acid degradation. HPPD functions as a homodimer and utilizes zinc as a cofactor to catalyze the conversion of L-phenylalanine to fumarate and acetoacetic acid, which is essential for proper phenylalanine metabolism. Deficiencies in HPPD can lead to serious metabolic disorders such as tyrosinemia type 3 and hawkinsinuria, both of which can result in severe symptoms including cognitive impairments and seizures, highlighting the importance of this protein in metabolic pathways. HPPD is located on human chromosome 12, a region that encompasses over 1,100 genes and represents approximately 4.5% of the human genome, underscoring its biological significance and potential implications in genetic research and therapeutic development.
