TAT Antibody (D-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects TAT (tyrosine aminotransferase) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TAT is a 454 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in the mitochondria, where TAT functions as a homodimer and utilizes pyridoxal phosphate as a cofactor to catalyze the conversion of L-tyrosine into p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate, a key step in amino acid degradation. This enzymatic activity is vital for maintaining amino acid homeostasis and preventing the accumulation of toxic metabolites. Defects in the gene encoding TAT can lead to tyrosinemia type 2 (TYRO2), a metabolic disorder characterized by elevated levels of tyrosine in the blood and urine, which can result in serious health issues such as palmoplantar keratosis, painful corneal ulcers, and cognitive impairments. The gene encoding TAT is located on human chromosome 16, a region that encompasses over 900 genes and represents nearly 3% of the human genome, highlighting TAT′s importance in both metabolic processes and genetic regulation. Anti-TAT antibody (D-9) serves as an essential tool for researchers studying TAT′s implications in metabolic disorders and potential interactions with other proteins involved in amino acid metabolism.
