C5a Antibody (2942) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects C5a protein of human origin by western blotting (WB). Anti-C5a antibody (2942) is available as the non-conjugated monoclonal isotype antibody. C5a protein plays a crucial role in the immune response as a potent anaphylatoxin, which is released during the complement activation process. This activation is essential for the elimination of pathogens and involves a series of ligand-surface protein interactions specific to hematopoietic lineage cells. C5a precursor undergoes proteolytic cleavage to produce C5a, which interacts with G protein-coupled receptors on myeloid leukocytes, leading to a cascade of proinflammatory responses, including cellular degranulation, smooth muscle contraction, and cytokine release. C5a receptor (C5aR) is involved in signaling pathways that utilize the Ras-Raf-ERK1/2 cascade and is prevalent on various cell types, including hepatocytes and endothelial cells. C5a′s role in mediating inflammatory responses highlights its potential as a therapeutic target in conditions such as asthma and bacterial meningitis, where dysregulation can contribute to pathophysiological phenotypes.
