E-cadherin Antibody (DECMA-1) is a rat monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects E-cadherin in mouse, rat, human, and canine samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-E-cadherin antibody (DECMA-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. E-cadherin plays a crucial role in cell adhesion, acting as a key mediator of cell-cell interactions that are essential for maintaining tissue integrity and facilitating morphogenetic processes. E-cadherin is primarily located at the adherens junctions of epithelial cells, where E-cadherin forms homophilic interactions with neighboring E-cadherin molecules, thereby promoting strong adhesion between cells. Proper localization and function of E-cadherin are vital for the maintenance of epithelial tissue architecture, and dysregulation is often associated with various pathological conditions, including cancer metastasis. Classical cadherins, including E-cadherin, are characterized by large extracellular domains, which contain multiple homologous repeats that contribute to adhesive properties. E-cadherin′s intracellular domain interacts with cytoplasmic proteins such as β-catenin, linking E-cadherin to the actin cytoskeleton and playing a significant role in signaling pathways that regulate cell behavior.

Where does this antibody bind on e cadherin protein?

Asked by: Elenachris
Thank you for your question. Anti-E-cadherin Antibody (DECMA-1): sc-59778 was raised against embryonal carcinoma cell line PCC4 Aza RI of mouse origin. At this point no epitope mapping has been performed for this antibody yet, so its exact binding site on its target protein is not known.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well for IF on mouse lung frozen sectionsThis antibody is cheaper and comparable in signal specificity and intensity to the rat anti-E-cadherin antibody (clone ECCD; catalog # 13-1900; $450 for 0.1mg) sold by Thermo Fisher/Invitrogen. Unfortunately, similar to the Invitrogen antibody, this antibody doesn't work for immunofluorescence on paraffin wax sections. I'll be using this antibody from now on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great western blot antibodyThis antibody works great on whole cell lysate prepared from mouse cecum, it detects the 120kDa band (full length of E-cadherin) and also a fragment that is ~80kDa (could be the processed E-cadherin present in the sample)
