SEE ALSO...

S-100 Antibody (S1-61) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects S-100 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). S-100 (S1-61) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. S-100 protein, a member of the EF-hand type calcium-binding protein family, plays a crucial role in intracellular calcium signaling and is involved in various cellular processes, including cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. S-100 protein′s ability to bind calcium ions is essential for regulating these processes, making S-100 a significant player in both normal physiology and pathological conditions. S-100 proteins are predominantly expressed in neural tissues, but S-100 proteins are also found in various other tissues, including muscle and immune cells, where S-100 proteins are implicated in inflammatory responses and tissue repair. S-100 proteins′ presence in leydig cells and the testis suggests involvement in hormone production and spermatogenesis, highlighting S-100 proteins′ importance in reproductive health. Additionally, calgranulins, which are related to S-100 proteins, are expressed in macrophages and epithelial cells, further emphasizing S-100 proteins′ diverse roles in both the nervous system and immune response.
